Leichhardt Council is reaching out to the area’s youth, with a series of free activities for people aged 12-18 in the Balmain-Rozelle Peninsula this month.

Throughout August and into September, the Hannaford Centre is opening its doors to provide “social, recreational and cultural opportunities for young people after school”, with new activities offered during each school term.

Activities taking place this month include introductions to Hip Hop dance (September 2) and Kung Fu (September 9).

Leichhardt Mayor Jamie Parker said the recently-refurbished Hannaford Centre offered a new recreational space for youth in Rozelle and Balmain.

“We strongly encourage young people to take ownership of the space on Thursday afternoons and participate in the program,” he said.

The Hannaford Centre is located at 608 Darling Street, Rozelle. Bookings are essential; call Leichhardt Council on 9367 9216
