Aspiring shutterbugs have the opportunity to work with one of Austrailia’s leading artistic nude photographers at the end of the month.

Winner of the Australian Adult Industry Awards Photographer of the Year, Cat O’Nine Tails will host a workshop on Tuesday, November 29, focused on the female nude, encompassing everything from basic principles and lighting techniques to managing models.

Participants will then practice these techniques photographing a gorgeous nude burlesque model under Cat’s creative direction.

The workshop will be at an undisclosed location in Glebe which used to be a brothel in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

For the last 12 years, Cat O’Nine Tails has snapped professionally in Australia, Europe, Thailand, and North America, among others. She hastaught her trade in Australia and the UK and exhibited her work domestically and internationally, in the United States, Germany and United Kingdom.

Her artwork has also been published in numerous books and magazines.

Obliterating the fine line between art and porn, Cat creates new worlds with ironically playful images that re-contextualise classical mythology and intertwine themselves within stories of misfits and outcasts.

Cat’s models tend to be from the edges of society, pierced in interesting places, covered in tattoos and exuding charisma. She said: “[I love] people that have unique characteristics, that have attitude, people living outside of the mainstream.”

“It will [be] a really fun, inspiring evening not just for people who are into photography … I’m going to talk about the female nude throughout history, different representations, how to be original in your work and finding inspiration,” she said.
