As the lift zoomed up to Level 36 of the swanky Shangri-la and I set foot into the New York-inspired Blu Bar, I was greeted by the image of the man who designed the 2014 official Oscars cocktail giving a fellow bartender a bollocking over a mishap with a whipped cream canister. Despite my bitter entrance, there’s no doubt that celebrity bartender Cihan Anadologlu is a mean mixologist. For his visit to Sydney, Anadologlu has created six cocktails inspired by the city. My favourite had to be the delicious dessert in a glass that was the Beautiful Harbour ($21) – Grey Goose vodka mixed with summer berries, Chambord, mascarpone, plum liqueur and aged balsamic, garnished with an Amalfi lemon shell. Unfortunately Anadologlu’s creations were limited editions for October, but they were a great teaser of what we might be able to expect when Blu Bar unleashes their summer cocktail menu in the next few weeks.
