Beach Burrito Company

It’s a humid evening. My eyes drink in shirtless guys in boardies, and girls with wet hair. There’s a broken speaker above me, and a slowly rotating fan – this joint has Tijuana down to the T. We’re given a basket of Chips and Guacamole ($7) as we guzzle Frozen Margaritas ($10). The potent Cuervo drink comes in a milkshake cup – a perfect Bondi crime. We’re told the Pulled Beef Fajita Burrito ($17.95) is king and yes, it totally runs the joint. Looking like it’s packing heat, my burrito arrives topped with spicy fajita salsa, cheese, guacamole and sour cream. It’s sheer size means it ends up on the table – a “blow-out” according to my Californian dining partner. The Death by Taquito ($15) takes me to heaven with crunchy rolled taquitos topped with chilli con carne, swimming in sides. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger – so I smother them with hot sauce, and still want more. If you’re a fragile bird, the Grilled Fish Tacos ($9.95/3) are soft, fresh and guilt-free. It’s easy food, packed with flavour; and on a hot day, north of the Bondi border with a Corona ($7) in your hand, you’ve got nothing to lose… except a filling.
