Foodies flock to Orange like flies to a particular fragrant wedge of Brie. Located 280 km west of Sydney, the fertile and highly productive lands surrounding this regional centre are the reason. Beef, lamb, fruit and – I suspect this is crucial – wine are all sourced from the region and are showcased at regular farmers’ markets and, of course, in the town’s many restaurants. With all the eating and drinking that goes on, it is a happy coincidence that Orange is a lovely place for a stroll. Home to large and lush parks, wide streets and a interesting local heritage trail, Orange might just be the whole package.
