The day celebrates the storming of the Bastille Saint–Antoine prison back in 1789, marking the beginning of the French Revolution. The peasants were all up in arms over a lack of bread, so it’s natural that celebrations include food and drink!

Sydney’s full of steaks – these days you can get ‘em for five bucks! So it’s not surprising to see one on the menu of this great little café-by-day, now doing dinner by Wednesday-to-Friday night. What is surprising is how good the generous, well-cooked serve of Eye Fillet with Garlic Mash and Red Wine Jus ($21) actually was!
