EVENT: RENEGADE CLAY

Clay misbehaving forms the crux of Renegade Clay, a most unusual set of events taking place in the CBD this week and next. You may have already spotted a life-sized clay figure, ‘perhaps eating Chinese takeaway,’ and butterflies spiralling towards world peace. But if you get in quick there’s still a chance for you to place porcelain bars of soap daintily upon fountains, craft some putty placements for your posterior in Martin Place and lay a clay slab just like a convict. We suggest you rebel the stock-standard lunch hour and go along to one of these world-first acts of ephemeral clay performance and installations and get your hands dirty with something a little more creative than tabouleh. If that’s not your cup of tea, there’s also a Coffee Mug competition, a series of self-guided Ceramics Walks and a talk being held in the AGNSW Asian Gallery Thursday 16th July between 2-3pm, all part of the Australian Ceramics Triennale.
