With more depth than your average Hollywood rom-com, the Judd Apatow-produced The Five Year Engagement goes to great lengths in subverting the idea of what can really happen once the joy of ‘Boy meets Girl’ finally washes away. After all, it can’t all be laughter and rose petals. Jason Segel and Emily Blunt are both charming as ever and though their story of love, heartache and everything in between does become a tad overdrawn, their undeniable chemistry definitely helps see you right to the end. It might not be the laugh-a-minute ride many may be expecting, but The Five Year Engagement still manages to remain an entertaining and often truthful look into the dynamics of a relationship.
