JENS LEKMAN – I KNOW WHAT LOVE ISN’T

This ten-track album, the first from Jens Lekman in five years, tells a simple story of exploring what love is using the method of exclusion. The opening track Every Little Hair Knows Your Name sets the mood, with simple melodies from an echoey piano played sans lyrics. As the album expands, introducing strings and a flourish of chimes, the tempo becomes energetic but still retains the air of melancholy. It all comes full circle for the final track, again titled Every Little Hair Knows Your Name, which features acoustic guitar and Lekman’s smooth vocals. A delicate touch and heartfelt lyrics combines to create a chilled, romantic effort. (LL)
