For Youth Week 2011, Leichhardt’s Youth Council has prepared a solid lineup of activities, focusing on equipping young people with the skills and know-how for both life and work.
A yearly national event for young people aged 12-25 years, this year’s program from LYC features tips on a range of subjects, from cooking advice – creating nutritious, cheap meals in ten minutes – to massively-discounted hospitality training courses, as well as a ‘flash-mob’ performance outside Leichhardt Town Hall.
“Youth initiatives give young people an opportunity to do things and act on issues which are important to them at a local level,” said Mayor Jamie Parker. “The Youth Council has done an exceptional job of tapping into the needs of their peers, with a great program for 2011 Youth Week offering a balance of hands-on skills development and entertainment.”
Youth Week 2011 will take place from Friday, April 1 through to Sunday, April 10.
