Surry Hills police raided this year’s Mardi Gras Party in Moore Park but came away with relatively small fry.
Between 10pm Saturday March 6 and 2.30am Sunday, police and drug detection dogs drug searched 102 people near Driver Avenue and issued field court attendance notices to 50 partygoers who were found in possession of small amounts of ecstasy, amphetamine, LSD, GBH, amyl nitrates and marijuana. They warned another four people for cannabis and another eight who were suspected of having discarded their drugs.
But a 29-year-old Leichhardt man was arrested and charged with supplying a prohibited drug after 61 ecstasy tablets were found in his underwear. He’s been granted conditional bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on March 29.
