MOVIE: EVERY JACK HAS A JILL

For an oddball like Jack, love and romance doesn’t seem to come easy. Even though he wins a trip to Paris, it isn’t enough to stop his girlfriend dumping him. With the encouragement of friends, he decides to go anyway. The trip immediately becomes a nightmare when his luggage disappears and is stereotypically vilified as an American pig by the staff at his hotel. His suitcase ends up in the hands of French woman, Chloe, also an oddball, who driven by a love for stories, searches his bag and decides, based on its contents that Jack is the man of her dreams. Although its basic plot follows the contrived, fairy-tale conventions of Rom-Com, don’t take this film at face value. The eccentricities of the lead characters are rightly brought to the foreground and revelled in, making it not only hilarious and fascinating but also thought-provoking due to the questions raised about unrealistic expectations when looking for love.
