The “I have a dream” mural in Newtown is not only one of Sydney’s most iconic pieces of street art, but an intrinsic part of the suburb. So it’s fitting that Mark Dundas’ series of photographs was about depicting the diverse subcultures in Newtown as a way to document a story of tolerance, acceptance and diversity.
Punters will be given the privilege to see the inspiring exhibition Dundas was working on just before his unexpected death in 2008. The black & white photo series was shot in Newtown over many years and anyone who has ever stepped foot in the vibrant suburb will appreciate his passion for his favourite area in Sydney. Opening night is Thursday, 13th September at 6:30pm.
Until Oct 8, Berkelouw Books, 6-8 O’Connell St, Newtown, free, 9557 1777, berkelouw.com.au
