Redfern car clash

Redfern residents have taken a novel approach to parking problems.
Since the mass evictions from Redfern’s notorious block beginning in late 2010, confidence in the area has increased exponentially.
People working in the CBD, which is only a short walk away, have felt safe parking their cars in the once beleaguered area.
The streets surrounding the demolished site: Eveleigh, Hugo and Ivy, contain many of the few untimed car spots close to the centre of Sydney.
This has led to over crowding, and the few residents who are left in the area are reserving parking spaces by placing garbage bins, witches hats and milk crates on the road outside their houses.
One resident went so far as to place these objects on the bonnet of a convertible, whose owner had removed these totems of reservation from the road and parked there anyway.
