Samson and Delilah are teenagers living in a remote Aboriginal community in the Australian desert. Daily life is a humdrum that consists of Samson sitting idly, trying to escape his brother’s incessant music while Delilah cares for her grandmother. When both suffer violence at the hands their families, Samson breaks the cycle and takes Delilah to the nearest town. While searching for food and money, they fall in love. But they have entered a world they don’t understand and quickly fall into despair and addiction. Although overall, Samson & Delilah never fulfils its emotional potential; you won’t be able to look away. Its almost silent style of storytelling, combined with visually stunning cinematography, results in a beautiful and raw film about the power of love. (MP)
