Surf club honours achievements

Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club recently held its annual presentation night to honour the achievements of its members during the 2008/09 season.
Recipients of the major awards were:
Kevin Murray Memorial President’s Award, chosen by club president Rod Harvey as the member deemed to have made the most significant contribution to the club during the season: Lea Hill, honorary secretary.
Lifesaving
Harry Nightingale Memorial Lifesaving Awards: Charles Cotton (Lifesaver of the Year), Eamon O’Hainin (Open Patrol Person of the Year), Carl Harding-Irmer and Jamie Travers (Junior Patrol Persons of the Year), James Blackwood (Cadet Patrol Person of the Year). Leona Stojak (Instructor of the Year). Luke Bortolussi (Candidate of the Year). Sacha Malka (Junior Candidate of the Year).
Reg Hart Most Efficient Patrol: Ormsby patrol (captain Peter Quartly).
Mick Shearman Memorial: Not finalised.
Kevin Murray Scholarship: Sarah Veckranges.
Roth Bassingthwaite Scholarships: Jennifer McMillan, Shea De Lorenzo, Michael Hallam.

Club champions: Adriel Young (open men’s), Sara Gentin (open women’s), Alex Boronkay (under-19 men’s), Sara Gentin (under-19 women’s), Daniel Moore (under-17 men’s), Jennifer McMillan (under-17 women’s), Michael Hallam (under-15 men’s), Sarah Veckranges (under-15 women’s).
Brian Hutchings Memorial Most Outstanding Surf Sports Athletes: Matthew Horton (male) and Sara Gentin (female).
Coach of the Year: Andrew McEncroe.
Boatie of the Year: Cameron Stuart.
IRB Team Member of the Year: Eamon O’Hainin.
Board Section Member of the Year: Adriel Young.
Ski Section Member of the Year: Anthony Pledger.
R & R Team Members of the Year: Shea De Lorenzo and Brynlee Owen.
Weekly handicap surf race point scores: Keiran Speed (A-grade surf race, Dr Tom Farranridge Memorial Trophy), Doug Yuide (B-grade surf race, John Bevege Memorial Trophy).
John F. Cox Memorial Point Score: Keiran Speed and Shaun Brooke dead-heat for first.
Ron Turner Memorial Point Score: Ziggy Lejins.
