These coming school holidays, kids and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 18 will have the opportunity to be involved in dance workshops through Sydney Dance Company. The workshops are open to dancers of all backgrounds and abilities and feature intensive courses in multiple dance styles including contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, jazz and many more. The workshops will be held at various Sydney locations including Ultimo, Bondi Beach and Pennant Hills.

Esteemed Sydney-based dancer and choreographer Alexandra Panetta will be running the contemporary dance workshops throughout the school holiday period. “The workshops are designed to ultimately give these kids a really great experience with a little element of challenge,” said Alexandra, “In the past, there’s always been a really lovely community vibe within the group.”

Young dancers will be able to experience the repertoire and dance style of Sydney Dance Company during the workshops. In addition, Alexandra gives her students the opportunity to create their own dance pieces at the end of the second day. Of the workshops, Alexandra said, “it’s not always just about the movement or the steps. They’re also building up cognitive skills, social skills, and kinaesthetic skills that come naturally from being active and doing the class.” She went on to say, “anything additional you get from them, for example, the creativity on the second day, is just such a fantastic added bonus.”
