My day just wouldn’t be complete without a coffee. Left to my own devices; I’d probably punctuate most days with my favourite cup (yes, it’s still The Golden Cobra). Like most of you I’m sure, I often find myself time poor. If you’re running late for an interstate date, spring for a cup at the new satellite branch of Toby’s Estate at the T2 Domestic Sydney Airport. Founder and Director Toby Smith had this to say: “For so many, commencing their journey with a cup of coffee is an integral part of their travel routine and so I wanted Sydney travellers to be able to enjoy quality coffee in a stylish environment.” With the bar set pretty low by most airport brews, I am really looking forward to my first well-rounded, robust cup…
Make a breakfast of it by also stopping in at the brand new T2 Domestic Sydney Airport Brasserie Bread outlet. Early morning flights have never looked quite so good to me! If you’ve already given up your new year health kick, I’ve mentioned that I’m a fan of their bourbon vanilla éclairs before, and I’ll do it again – they’re that good. If by some twist of fate they’re out, their sourdough toast will certainly give your pearly whites a good workout.
If all this talk of Sydney’s domestic terminal is making you wish you were planning a short break, consider the 2012 Noosa International Food & Wine Festival. It runs from the 17th-20th May; and Noosa resorts like the BreakFree French Quarter are offering travelling foodies well-priced accommodation (starting at $177/night) plus a range of other enticements. (Think spa gift backs, herbal tea packs and deluxe breakfast starter packs…) The offer requires you to stay two nights, but with the festival attracting name-brand chefs from around the country (plus a few big hitters from the global gastronomy scene), you’re sure to find something tasty to amuse yourself with.
Speaking of famous chefs, Jamie Oliver will be winging his way back to Sydney next month to visit three Australian states. In his first visit to our shores since 2010, he’s expected to spend some time in his Sydney restaurant, Jamie’s Italian for the official launch; no doubt an occasion for him to lavish praise on General Manager Karen Westfield and Executive Chef Dave Clark (pictured) who have kept the queue spilling out onto Pitt Street. Keep your eyes peeled for him in store on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th March.
